چکیده
A cold-adapted (ca) influenza B reassortant virus vaccine that contained the six internal RNA segments from influenza B/Ann Arbor/1/66 ca virus and the neuraminidase and hemagglutinin genes from wild-type influenza B/Texas/1/84 virus was evaluated in children ranging in age from 8 months to 14 years. The children were vaccinated intranasally with doses ranging from 10(3.2) to 10(6.2) 50% tissue culture infective doses (TCID50). Thirty children were seropositive, and 26 were seronegative. Thirty-three children participated as unvaccinated controls. The vaccine was well tolerated by both seronegative and seropositive children. The amount of virus required to infect 50% of seronegative children was approximately 10(4.5) TCID50. Vaccine viruses recovered from airway secretions retained temperature-sensitive and cold-adapted characteristics. The results of this study indicate that the vaccine virus, influenza B/Texas/84 ca reassortant virus, is attenuated, immunogenic, and phenotypically stable when given to young seronegative children.

Live attenuated cold-adapted reassortant (CR) influenza virus vaccines were evaluated in institutionalized asthmatic children and severe psychomotor-retarded (SPR) patients. Almost all the vaccinees were seropositive to the vaccine strains before immunization. Trivalent CR vaccine (containing A H1N1 (CR-125), A H3N2 (CR-149) and B (CRB-117)), bivalent CR vaccine (CR-125 and CR-149) and monovale...
متن کاملDevelopment and Sequence Analysis of a Cold-Adapted Strain of Influenza A/New Caledonia/20/1999(H1N1) Virus
Background and Aims: Vaccination is the most effective method to prevent influenza infection. Among the available vaccines, cold-adapted live-virus vaccines are suitable approach that have been produced and evaluated for recent years in few countries. The goal of this project was to derivate a cold adapted variant of the influenza A/New Caledonia/20/1999(H1N1). Materials and Methods: Influenza ...
متن کاملLaboratory properties of cold-adapted influenza B live vaccine strains developed in the US and USSR, and their B/Ann Arbor/1/86 cold-adapted reassortant vaccine candidates.
The adaptation of two influenza B strains (B/Leningrad/14/55 and B/Ann Arbor/1/66) to replication at 25 degrees C is described. Comparison of the two viruses indicates that both also exhibit temperature sensitive phenotypes, although that of the virus B/Leningrad/14/55 is less pronounced. When inoculated into ferrets both viruses replicate well in the trachea, but only the B/Leningrad/14/55 col...

Reported is a study of live, cold-adapted (CA) reassortant mono-, di-, and trivalent influenza type A and B vaccines in a series of controlled clinical and epidemiological investigations involving nearly 130 000 children aged 3-15 years. The results of clinical, immunological, and morbidity investigations of the vaccinees and a control group over 6-months' follow-up indicated that the vaccines ...
